The Wisdom of the Bee
Jan 12, 2026
How do you manage your day? Your tasks, your calendar, your priorities? Are you a paper-person, everything electronic or a very personalized combination?
For many of us, organization becomes a series of boxes checked, notifications pinged, and items crossed off and each of us has a unique way of managing it all.
For me, I start a new journal at the beginning of each calendar year. Even though my lap top pretty much rules my communication world, I would be lost without my journal and pen to create lists, work our formulas, quickly note new books I want to read, jot phone numbers I need to transfer to contacts, capture great ideas before they slide off like slippery fish, and sometimes even doodle. I could never be on a call without my pen in hand taking notes, even if it’s to write down questions to ask or points to bring up later. Writing causes thinking in a way keyboarding can’t and it’s personal – nobody is tracking or monitoring or copied in on my notes - so my journal becomes a very personal account of not only tasks, but ideas, reflections and decisions.
And each year I choose a journal that “speaks to me”. This year’s was a gift that I tucked away for just the right time. The cover has a picture of a bee hovering over flowers. And not just any graphic but one taken from original art by Hannah Dale inspired by the Great British Countryside. At first glance it was beautiful, but the symbolism is what hooked me.
Bees move with intention, not chaos…a kind of purpose without frenzy.
Their contribution of small efforts of simple steps creates meaningful impact.
They are in harmony with natural rhythm which reminds me that alignment trumps force.
The bee doesn’t try and be everything. It contributes what it is designed to give, knowing that its small, faithful actions create sweetness, nourishment and life far beyond itself.
The bee teaches me that abundance is born from cooperation, self-respect and presence – never from control – and in choosing A Human Approach, I honour my own natural timing, trusting that alignment creates more than effort ever could.
Each of the pages of my journal have a watermark of a bee and flowers and inside the front cover, I pasted the wisdom of the bee in a few sentences to remind me to not chase life but to live awake, in tune and on purpose.
What’s in your sight line?
Aha! ~ Turn your tracker into inspiration
Take a moment to notice what’s in your line of sight. What symbols, reminders, or small cues exist on your calendar, your list-maker or note paper that subliminally guide your choices, your priorities, and your actions? Even the smallest visual, word, or object can quietly shape the path you move along.
Why choose blah when you can surround yourself with visuals that quietly shape your focus, ignite your energy and amplify your intention … moment by moment.
Sometimes the smallest shift in what we see each day becomes the greatest shift in how we live.
I can’t wait to hear the organizational choices everyone will share in this week’s call in Human U. Join us?
