The Storm is Upon Us

What do you do when the storm hits?

I mean the storm in terms of adversity, challenge, disappointment, set-back, failure or rejection.
Most people take it as a sign they’re off track and abort their goals or reduce their expectations. They pause, panic, or pivot away from their intention—thinking challenge must mean they’ve done something wrong.

But here’s the truth: Storms don’t mean stop. Storms mean soar.

In a recent video, Dr. Joe Dispenza shared a brilliant metaphor about the mindset of eagles. Eagles don’t flee storms—they rise on them. The chaos that causes other birds to scatter creates the updraft eagles use to gain elevation with less effort. They don’t resist the turbulence—they work with it.

We could stop right there and choose to embrace storms but eagles have much more to teach us.
Eagles fly with tunnel vision and peripheral awareness.  That’s not a contradiction. That’s power.

They lock on their goal with clarity and precision. But they’re not blind to their environment.
They notice opportunity. They sense danger. They read the wind.
It’s not just focus—it’s informed focus.

Most people run from adversity, distracted by every problem, every opinion, every fear.
But what if, instead of retreating, we leveraged the energy around us—just like an eagle does?
What if we used the storm to rise, not fall?

Aha! ~ When life gets stormy, don’t assume you’re off course.
You might just be learning how to fly.

You see, eagles also build their nests in high places—not for convenience, but for clarity.
When you rise above the noise—mentally, emotionally, and energetically—you gain perspective.
You don’t waste energy on distractions. You don’t make decisions from survival mode.
From a higher vantage point, you can see where you’re going—and help others do the same.

And even in the quiet seasons, eagles are still preparing.
They molt—shedding what no longer serves them. It's messy, uncomfortable, even grounding at times… but it’s necessary for flight. We, too, need to let go of old roles, beliefs, and patterns that keep us stuck at ground level.

Remember, every major breakthrough comes after a breakdown.  Every promotion comes after a test. Every victory requires you to face something that feels like defeat. Storms are your opportunity to develop the strength you need.  The storm doesn’t come to destroy you. It comes to reveal what you’re made of.  It teaches you that you’re more resilient, creative and powerful than you ever imagined. It’s how you respond to the storm that matters.

“Resistance creates turbulence, but alignment creates effortless flight. Learn to dance with the storm.”    —Dr. Joe Dispenza
