Fear’s Physical Grip

aha moment jae m rang Sep 01, 2025

How much (quiet) trepidation do you carry in your day-to-day life?

Does any worry amplify before a tough conversation? Do you anticipate the worst before a doctor’s visit? Hesitate before trying something new because of what someone once said that still haunts you?

So much of the stress we carry doesn’t come from the situation itself, but from the anticipation of it. And often, that anticipation is rooted in something much earlier — a childhood trip to the dentist, a relationship break, or even being shamed when you tried something bold and new. Those moments – even ones too early to remember - can plant seeds of doubt that grow into long-term stress, quietly shaping not only how we meet the present but in how stress manifests itself in physical form.

Why would we not simply accept our fears as that’s just who I am as opposed to looking for the root cause and releasing the grip of fear?

Aha! ~ Fear contracts. Trust expands.

Fear belongs to the shadows.  Trust belongs to the light.

Fear pulls us inward, tightening muscles, shortening breath, and signaling the body to brace for impact. Trust, on the other hand, allows the body to open — to rest, to move forward with ease, to heal and ultimately grow.

That matters, because the mind and body are not simply “connected” — they are one. What the mind rehearses, the body lives. If we practice fear, the body experiences stress chemistry over and over again which eventually manifests itself as dis-ease. If we practice trust, the body experiences safety, repair and pure potential.

And the best part? While we may not choose which emotions arrive – many may be buried in the unconscious and part of the programming - we absolutely get to choose which ones we practice. We can tell ourselves past lies that strengthen fear’s limiting grip, or we can tell ourselves the truth: that everything we need to thrive is within reach.

Great health begins when we stop bracing against life and start trusting our way to a beautiful story.
