Drained

aha moment jae m rang Sep 14, 2026

When did you last charge your phone using a candle?

You wouldn't. Because a phone needs a specific kind of energy to charge properly. Wrong input, and the battery just sits there, draining.

What about your battery?  Are you draining, too?

Have you heard the term, “mitochondria”? They are the tiny structures inside virtually every cell in your body, doing something remarkably similar to what a battery does. They are storing and releasing electrical charge. They maintain a voltage. They power everything: your thinking, your mood, your metabolism, your ability to recover from a hard week. They are the source of your energy production.

And like any battery, they need the right kind of charge to stay strong.

For most of human history, that charge came from the same place, every single day. The sun. The earth beneath bare feet. The rhythm of light and dark during our daily cycles. These were not wellness trends. They were the operating conditions the human body was built for, refined over millions of years of exposure.

Then, fairly recently, we swapped most of that out for something else entirely.

Screens. LED lighting. Shoes between us and the ground. Sunglasses between us and the sky. WiFi humming through the walls at all hours. A kind of constant, low-grade electromagnetic noise that simply did not exist for most of human history.

And many of us, if we're honest, feel it.

Maybe not dramatically. Maybe just a little off or a little more tired than we think we should be. And what do we do? Reach for yet another supplement, book another wellness appointment, or accept that lower energy is simply the price for life in the fast lane.

What if we’re simply plugging into the wrong charger?  What if it’s not that we’re broken, but that we’re misguided?

Aha! ~ We are solar-powered beings trying to run on artificial light.

There is a fascinating body of research suggesting that Earth itself functions as a kind of magnetic operating system, one that our biology has always been in conversation with. Our cells, it turns out, are extraordinarily sensitive instruments. They respond to light angles, magnetic fields, and electrical signals from the ground up. The planet has its own charge, and for a very long time, we stayed in contact with it.

At some point we lost our way. I think about this every time I see a lineup of people walking on a gorgeous sunny day wearing sunglasses (and as I pass, can smell the sunscreen).

We have been so thoroughly taught to fear the sun that we now block the very input our cells are designed to receive then cripple ourselves more by adding megadoses of unnatural light when our hormones need darkness.

You know how much better you feel when you’re on holidays and enjoy a few hours at the beach?  Sand, sun and water are not vacation, they’re fuel.

Your original charger is free, rises every morning and never needs an update.

Just show up.

I added blue-blockers at night and phototherapy patches during the day. We’ll talk more about both in Momentum Accelerator  4:00 pm EDT Wednesday.  Email [email protected] to join the Zoom conversation.
