What's the number one argument in households?

Money.

Not the kids. Not the in-laws. Not who forgot to take out the recycling. Money.

And here's what's interesting: research consistently shows it's not even financial hardship that tears couples apart. It's the disagreement about money. Two people with plenty of it, still fighting. So, if the argument isn't really about the amount, maybe it was never about the money at all.

Maybe it’s what we are programmed to believe money is … or isn’t. Does it grow on trees?

I believe the clues have been hiding in the language all along.

Think about the words we use. Currency. That word comes from "current." Something designed to flow, to circulate, to move. You don't talk about "currency" sitting still in a vault. You talk about it moving.

Cash flow. Not cash possession. Flow. Again, movement.

Liquidity. A water word. Liquid assets move. Frozen assets don't. When money stops moving, we call it illiquid, stuck, frozen.

And the bank; isn’t that where flow gets contained, directed and accessed?

Ironic, isn't it? What we transact with isn't technically money at all. Money is backed by stored value. Our dollars aren't backed by anything. So that ink on paper, or line item on your e-statement, is what we let determine our expansion or our limitations.

Are we chasing a ledger entry or building a lifestyle?

Aha! ~ The number you’re chasing might be the ceiling you’re building.

Most of us were handed a number somewhere along the way. A company sets a $5 million revenue target. A student graduates aiming for $150,000 a year. A family decides they need $X before they feel they can breathe.  And as we chase that number, we organize our lives around it.  We measure our progress – our worth – around that number.

But creative potential is always flowing with streams of ideas and splashes of pivotal insights that move us in the direction of abundance.

What if instead of beginning with the number, we began with the being? You know … that vision of life unlimited where abundance laps up on you.

Close your eyes.  What is that feeling, that state, that frequency that makes you feel alive? That is what we work for.

Money is not the master. It's a medium, a mirror, and a form of movement. When you begin practicing the frequency of the life you want now, aligned action follows. And resources, introductions, opportunities, and yes, money, begin to organize around that state.
